2001 Dodge Durango
Now out to conquer the road, 2001 dodge Durango has higher sales as compared
to other SUVs. It offers more cargo room with six seating capacity and eight when
maximized as compared to Ford Explorer and other oversized competitors such as
Expedition and Chevy Tahoe. For 2001, power comes from two power sources, the
4.7-liter V8 and a 5.9-liter V8.The 4.7-liter engine features a modern overhead-cam
design.
With 235 horsepower plus 295 foot-pounds of torque and four-speed automatic transmission,
the 4.7-liter engine meets California's Low Emissions Vehicle Standards. It features
two second-gear ratios that works well with the engine for quicker acceleration.
Compared with the Explorer's optional 5.0-liter V8 or the Expedition's standard
4.6-liter V8, Durango's 4.7 is more powerful. The traditional 5.9-liter Magnum
V8 generates 245 horsepower and 335 foot-pounds of torque. This engine provides
greater towing capacity than Explorer.
With the 5.9-liter engine and 3.92 differentials, it's capable of pulling a load
with a weight of up to 7,200 pounds compared with Chevy's Tahoe's 7,000 pounds.
EPA ratings show 12/17 mpg city/highway fuel economy.
