2004 Dodge Durango problem
In January 13, 2004, the 2004 Dodge Durango
was reported to have defects that can cause the throttle to be detached
openly which may cause accidents and crash. 21,000 estimated vehicles
are affected specifically the models using the 3.7-liter V-6 or
4.7-liter V-8 engine. Free from the said defects are Durangos powered
by the 5.7-liter V-8 Hemi engine. However many of the defective
vehicles are out in the market and has been purchased and even used by
customers.
Thus
DaimlerChrysler warned dealers to stop selling the said car model. They
were asked to inform their customers to prevent further untoward
accidents. Investigation shows that the problem is caused by water
leakage into the throttle cable housing. Exposure to extremely cold
temperature can cause the throttle to stick openly
and risk thousands of innocent lives.
