Dodge Durango off road
Make way for the coming of the new mid-sized sport utility vehicle with extra
large exteriors and bold exterior styling. Finally the long wait as Dodge Durango
conquers the realm of the off-road. For the first time, the Durango SUV derivative
is built from the big Dodge Ram's mechanicals with a wider range of engines,
drive systems, and models. It measures seven inches longer, three inches wider
and more than three inches taller than the Dodge Ram. It has a standard measure
of 119.2 inches in wheelbase, 200.8 inches overall, 74.3 inches tall, and 76 inches
wide, with load floor height of 33.2 inches.
For added carrying capacity, the distance between the wheelhouses in the rear
cargo area has been increased by almost three inches. The car's interior uses
quality materials ranging from fabrics to plastics and metallic. There is a surprising
cargo space as well as comfortable head, shoulder and legroom except in the third
row seats. Coming along with the car's impressive interiors is the powerful combination
of suspension, steering, and brakes.
The power rack-and-pinion steering complements the size and weight of the bigger
Durango, with satisfactory low-speed assist for easy maneuvering may it be in
tight places. Proper combination of torsion bar front suspension and coil spring
rear suspension with the Watts linkage to the control lateral axle movement provides
easy access to dirty and rocky roads.
